Frequently Asked
Questions

What curriculum does STEAMPI use?

STEAMPI follows a project-based learning curriculum that integrates both STEM for kids and the Arts (STEAM). Our subjects include hands-on robotics for kids (VEX Robotics, Lego Robotics via Spike Prime, Micro:bit, etc.), coding for kids (Scratch coding, Python, JavaScript, etc.), Animation & Digital Art, 3D Printing, AI, Math, and Physics. We constantly update our curriculum so our programs reflect the fast-changing world.

What is the difference between STEAM and STEM?

While many people are familiar with STEM for kids (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), STEAM includes the "A" for Arts. At STEAMPI, we believe design and digital creativity are just as important as engineering. Whether your child is taking our robotics classes for kids or learning digital art, we provide a well-rounded approach.

How does STEAMPI's curriculum work and how long is the program?

We have divided our projects into 9 levels of learning path.

What age does STEAMPI teach?

Our STEM curriculum is thoughtfully designed for kids aged 6 to 14 years old, whether they are looking for beginner coding classes for kids or advanced engineering projects.

Does my child require prior robotics or coding experience?

No prior experience is required! Whether your child wants to build their very first MakeCode or Scratch game or dive into advanced robotics classes, our programs are structured to accommodate beginners while offering challenges for advanced learners.

My child has attended some coding, robotics, or technology classes before. Can they skip levels?

Yes, we assess students' prior knowledge and skills to determine the appropriate level. If your child has experience, they may be able to advance directly to a more suitable level.

How do I get to know my child's progress?

Parents will receive summary feedback after each class. You will also have access to a learning dashboard where you can view STEM projects, mentor feedback, and progress updates.

What is STEAMPI's teacher to student ratio?

To ensure personalized attention in our coding and robotics classes, we maintain a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:4 or less.

How often do I get to talk to my child's teacher?

We offer parent-mentor meetings regularly (semi-yearly) to review your child's progress. You are also always welcome to talk to our staff at the front desk anytime to discuss your child's learning journey.

How often can my child attend STEAMPI?

We offer a casual program (1 hour session per week) and an advance program (2 hours per week). We also offer flexible scheduling options.

How can I enroll my child?

You can enroll by registering via our website, or visit us in person at 6672 Main St., Vancouver. If you are looking to code in Vancouver East, our studio is conveniently located in the neighborhood. There is no registration fee.

How can I help STEAMPI?

We are always excited to welcome support from our community! You can help by spreading the word about STEAMPI experience to family and friends. We always appreciate ideas, feedback, and suggestions. Reach out to us anytime - we'd love to hear from you!
